Every one who has moved to the Tamiya TA-05 has never looked back.

Altho a TA05 is belt drive, unlike the shaft driven TT01.

Belt drive is great, minimal drive train power loses - i.e. better efficiancy.

The downside to this, is, stones and debris can get caught in the belts causing them to break or for the drive train to lock up.

The TA05 will be a great drifter as long as you use it on a seal surface, like a track or an indoor carpark. Outside on regular roads and you could run into trouble....

yeah a TA05 is a wise choice for racing/drifting parts are everywhere these days, cheap either from local hobby shops or trademe i used to own a TT01 an i will never go back i love belt smoother, quieter an look 10 times better then shaft, plus TT01 just anit that strong. but at the end of the day it comes down to how much you really want to spend.
