Counter Steer Mod

Postby PS13Boy » 05 Feb 2009 17:32

Have you guys heard about the counter steer mod where you have the rear wheels geared higher?
Check out these vids...

This is sooo bad ass! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
Just thought I'd share coz I reckon this is gonna be the next big thing in rc drift, apparently already popular in Japan. But as far as I know there's no "off the shelf" parts to do it yet.

I wanna try it on my ta05, I think I can swap the rear pulley for a TA04 ball diff pulley which is slightly smaller. But then the belt might be too loose... :|
If you guys have any other ideas, please share, coz I sooo wanna be out there counter steering the whole track like that.

Phwoah, that's a bit steep bro!

With some modding, the TA04 pulley is in, and I've got a "semi-dodgy" idler pulley/belt tensioner setup. :P
Put the 1 way in the front.
Took it for a drive. It's definitely more oversteery on the throttle, and under brakes obviously. But I'm not getting the big counter steer yet. Played around with the suspension and weight a bit, but I think I need those centre pulleys Phil, so the rear is geared even higher.
How it is now, the rear wheels do about 1 1/8 turns to every 1 turn of the fronts.
I thought that would be heaps, but I'd like to try more.
